U2 in Ziggo Dome Amsterdam: iNNOCENCE & eXPERIENCE Tour 2015

So we attended the latest U2 concert tour in Amsterdam last weekend called: iNNOCENCE & eXPERIENCE 2015.

The band played a few of their new songs but most of the show was really a compilation of their previous hits worked around previous concert tour themes. Because this is U2 and Bono being an active philantropist and a voice of reason for religious, social and political issues, they have covered as well the migrant/refugee crisis currently happening in Europe.

The band’s message for the evening is #refugees_welcome which is easier said than done really.

If you want to be politically correct you need to say this, but if you are looking at the hard face of reality, you need to take this with a grain of salt, get the consensus of the locals and make sure they are heard (this is very important because you do not want local upheaval and insurgency!) and then do a lot of politicking in Brussels with European leaders. Europe may have a European Union that binds her together but at the end of the day this union is comprised of individual countries… with individual laws, individual governing powers, individual citizens and individual needs.

I personally have been past the band – music age, since like 2 decades already. After your teens and getting over with the early 20’s you get struck with the reality of life that you need to work and earn your bread. You learn to get out of your self-absorbed web and stop fantasizing about the world through music. Instead, music has become just one of the atttibutes in your life, not something that your world revolves around with.

Having said that, I still much prefer U2 back in the 1980’s, when they made and played really alternative music and they were not yet that big and commercialised.

Nevertheless, it is all good to attend concerts of artists we (Dutchman and I) were used to be gaga with in the 1980’s. The next one we are going to is A-HA! Do you remember them? =)

Me with my Hippie Gypsy niece outside Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. She and her dad (my brother-in-law) went with Dutchman and moi. Check out her cool and hip instagram at https://instagram.com/hippiegypsystyle

The crowds outside Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.

The most expensive tickets are on the floor which we never take anyway because I am a dwarf compared to the average Dutch. I will not survive amongst the masses here.

One of the early acts during the concert.

We were located on the side ofthe massive cage-like screen but we have a big video screen as well.

I like it when the 4 band members walked on this runway and played music. Larry Mullen the drummer took his little drum with him.

Bono and the Edge, on lead guitars. The Edge is the main man bringing in that familiar U2 lead guitar tunes.

One of their music inspirations, the religious clash in Ireland which does not make sense Protestants and Catholics fighting over who has the best god? It is still happening in Ireland until today. They have a wall there. Yes, a real wall like the Berlin wall before its destruction.

Can you see the band inside that transparent massive screen cage? They actually go up there from the runway with a little lift (elevator) and then they play inside that screen cage with graphics surrounding them on both sides of the screen. They look like they are inside the video screen. Quite cool actually.

Then they got this girl to go up and dance with them when they played Mysterious Ways. She was very game. I do not think I can be this spontaneous.

Then Bono told her for posterity’s sake to take her mobile phone and join them again in their next song while she dance and film the whole thing. This is a typical U2-Bono act, to involve someone from the audience.

You can see on the screen above a video of the destruction in Syria, one of the messages in this concert tour.

More videos of the migrants/refugees in the Hungarian border.

And these ladies were standing the WHOLE time blocking everyone’s view.
