Dublin: A full ‘Irish Breakfast’ please… and my Georgian hotel

During my long weekend stay in Dublin I had a hearty warm Irish breakfast each morning at the hotel, one time I erroneously ordered—‘Full English Breakfast… uh, I mean, sorry… full Irish Breakfast please!’ The woman serving my table politely smiled and said, ‘It’s alright’, while I had to keep reminding myself mentally that the Irish do not really fancy the English at all.

Irish Breakfast, not English ok?

Day 1—Full Irish Breakfast: NO FOTO.

I was too shattered from the night’s pub crawl. Four pints of Guinness and a shot of whiskey. Incidentally, the woman serving my table totally forgot I existed. Coincidence? Well, I couldn’t care less really as I was having a hangover. It’s amusing enough that my neighbouring table had to remind me that my breakfast has not arrived yet. I looked up groggily and nodded at them, ‘Oh yeah, that is correct… thanks.’

And when it did arrive, I barely touched it, much less take a foto. I had no appetite, my head is spinning and my throat still tasted like beer. All I wanted at that moment was to crawl back to the comforts of my hotel room bed.

Day 2—Full Irish Breakfast:

Sausage and ham, baked beans, a half grilled tomato, mushrooms, meatloaf, fried egg, toasted bread, fresh orange juice and tea (or coffee).

Day 3—Full Irish Breakfast:

Ham, meatloaf, baked beans, mushrooms, a half grilled tomato, scrambled eggs, toasted bread, fresh orange juice, tea (or coffee) and an apple.

So there you go! Now tell me, what’s the difference between a Full English Breakfast and a Full Irish breakfast?

Answer: From a foreigner or tourist point of view—Not much really. But, for sure, a week-long of diet like this is enough to make me move on to the next bigger size.

My Georgian Hotel

Here are a few pictures of the Georgian Hotel I stayed.

The clientele of this hotel is a bit older, mostly retired, which kind of fits well with the style and theme.

I did not get to take a picture of my bedroom but here is moi taking a shot on the mirror and the view from my room down to the street.

I had a beautiful Georgian styled room except that I booked a room for 1 person with a 1 persons bed. Never again. Next time I will book a room for 1 person with a double bed! I need space to wriggle in my sleep =)
