Girona, Spain First Stop: Xocolateria L’Antigua

Hi people, I am in Girona, Spain! My flight was delayed for 5 hours!!! I almost died at the airport. Can you imagine doing nothing for 5 hours? I could have toured Girona already!

Anyway, I was consoled when I finally arrived at my hotel which is a lovely contemporary design hotel overlooking the city. I will post about this at a later time, as well as my 5-hour waiting ordeal at Eindhoven Airport. What I wanted to tell you though is my newest local find here. The first yummy thing I bumped into upon arrival in Girona.

Xocolateria L’Antigua
No website. Address: Placa del Vi 8, Girona, Spain

I mostly slept during the 2-hour flight so when I arrived town I was hankering for a little snack. I plan to eat tapas for the evening and knowing that the Spaniards, er I mean Catalans eat late, I decided its best I take some snack first. But where? Luckily, while walking around the old quarter I bumped into this adorable Art Nouveau little café on Placa del Vi. The cafe is located across the Ajuntament de Girona (city hall).

I ordered their specialty, a cup of chocolate and croissant to go with. This reminds me of my trip to Madrid 2 years ago where I ordered Chocolate con Churros. The melted dark chocolate is strong yet sweet but it doesn’t make you dizzy from its saccharinity.

It was very good but I couldn’t finish the chocolate and I must say that this sure is a great kick-off  treat arriving in Girona, Spain. An authentic Catalan snack (except for the croissant) in an old world style cafe.

Lots of BESOS to all of you!
