Rue Crescent Night Out in Montreal, Canada

What do you do when you see an old friend after 25+ long years? Answer: Stay up all night talking!

I knew Pat during my teenage years. We used to go to the same church where we actively exercised our faith and spread the so-called good news by proselytising others. We have both left the church since, albeit a very long time ago. Leaving that church paved the way for me to find freedom for myself. Freedom and the truth that I have been looking for, for a long time. It was a very painful awakening that made me who I am today.

So meeting Pat has brought back all those memories from the past. Both the good and the bad. But of course we chose to remember the good and the fun times we’ve both had together. And oh dear me, we just could not stop talking, and laughing as well! Even after 25+ long years, Pat is still the same Pat that I know. Some things never change in life and I am quite glad with that.

With Pat being the local in Montreal, she did a quick inventory of a few places that we can go to for the night out—Rue Saint Laurent, Rue Rachel, Rue Crescent… These are the hotspots of Montreal where you can find many pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants side by side. We both had eaten earlier so we ruled out dinner, but a little bite would not hurt our waistlines, so a bar – cafe – restaurant would be a good option to go to.

Since it was drizzling that evening we picked a destination that is not too far away from the city centre — Rue Crescent.

After surveying the street and a few bars we decided to settle at W&G for some margaritas and a plate of crispy calamari rings. As Pat and I talked and laughed non-stop we managed to totally forgot about the time. We have been in the restaurant forever that our waitress (who interestingly was from Syria, and we even had a chat with her about the Syrian refugee situation), have asked us for our last round of drinks. Time flies when you are indeed having fun.

We didn’t want to go to a late night bar after that, so instead, we went to a nearby Tim Hortons for coffee. I love these 24/7 convenience stores. Yes, for more chatting and more laughing =)

Thank you Pat for the memories and for the laughs!

Our margaritas and our crispy calamari rings at the W&G (Weinstein & Gavino’s).

The Italian restaurant and bar is quite big and I quite like the interior design.

The bars on Rue Crescent (or Crescent Street) in Downtown Montreal. We went inside here but we found the bar too noisy and the music was blasting, not a good place to have a chat, so we moved on.

A raining evening, not the best time to go out. No one can control the weather unfortunately.

No one was manning this parking lot so we parked for free =)

Our scraggy and overly fatigued laden faces after midnight here at Tim Hortons, haha. We stayed here for another hour before parting ways.
