Old Quebec: City Fortifications and Dufferin Terrace

A very nice place to walk around and hang out in Old Town Quebec is the Dufferin Terrace, especially when the weather is nice.

The Dufferin terrace is situated right on the promontory where the iconic Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac Hotel is located. As you walk on the terrace you will catch views down to Place Royale, Quarter Petit-Champlain and the Lawrence River.

If you walk further on the Dufferin Terrace you will reach the City Fortifications with the flag of Canada flying on top of Cap Diamant. I did not bother walking around the fortifications that long because it is quite a huge area. Here you can find the citadel, Artillery Park, cannons, gun ports and the Plains of Abraham which was once a battlefield between English and French troops.

If I had more time in Quebec and I need a place to sit down and do nothing, I would visit these two places, the Dufferin Terrace and the area around the city fortifications and the citadel.

There are many benches and pagodas on the terrace itself.

During winter there is a public toboggan slide on the terrace, which is a century old attraction in the city.

Moi taking a selfie, what else. I look my real age here.
