C*H*I*J*M*E*S (Restaurants, Bars & Shops)
Website: Chijmes
When I was in Singapore last year Myrrh told me that there is a new happening place in town. She said its called CHIJMES and its a beautiful and historical place with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants located in what used to be a Catholic convent and chapel, the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ). Today, they call this place a premier lifestyle destination.
I was curious so I dragged my father to Chijmes for an afternoon snack after our Joo Chiat escapade. Unfortunately, Myrrh forgot to tell me that most of the bars, cafes and restaurants are only open late into the afternoon, some early evening, depending I guess on the day.
Too bad because the place looked very pretty and promising. I can already visualise how the whole place would look like in the evening with the crowds, fun, music and all that activity. This venue would definitely be very entertaining and exciting. I need to rain check Chijmes. There were a few cafes open though but the whole place was too quiet, so dad and moi decided to spend our afternoon snack somewhere else.
Have a look at the pictures below (without the crowds).
Crepe Snack at Marche Movenpick Raffles
Website: Marche Movenpick Bar & Bistrol Raffles City
Because most of the cafes and restaurants were closed at Chijmes and the ones open looked too quiet, my dad I crossed over to Raffles City Shopping Centre which is just beside Chijmes. I spotted a nice French modern-looking bistro with a terrace on the corner.
A quick snack and drink would be in order before going back to my sister’s apartment.
Crepe was quite nice, as well as our coffee and wine. 4 stars out of 5.
