PRAIA DA OURA BEACH
Praia da Oura where we had our hotel is a relatively busy developed touristic area filled with English and Dutch beach holiday goers. If you are looking for sun and fun, the place won’t surely disappoint you!
Getting ready to hit the beach in Praia da Oura!
Coastline of Praia da Oura where Dutchman baked himself until he was red.
Café/terras by the Praia da Oura.
A villa at the corner of our street, 20 meters away from our hotel.
CAPE ST. VINCENT
The “End point of the worldâ€, as they say, borders the Atlantic Ocean. Its nature preserves, the sheer rocky cliffs were just breathtakingly amazing. To the eastern stretch of cliffs is the renowned Sagres Point, where Henry the Navigator did most of this voyage launches in the early days of exploration, called “The Age of Discoveriesâ€.
While Dutchman and I were awed at the amazing rock formations, we noticed this small tablet in the rock floor, written in both Portuguese and Deutsch. It says that a 28 year old German guy fell off from the cliff rocks and died. It was his parents who placed the marble tablet to warn visitors of the danger if they are not careful.
Beautiful rock formations in Cape St. Vincent. I think a birds eye view picture of this place would have been best.
The day is not complete without me posing with the magnificent view. It was quite windy and a bit chilly.
Up close. Breathtaking, but they are dangerous. See the force of the waves?

PRAIA DU QUARTEIRA
Located about 50KM eastward of Albufeira to the direction of Faro, Algarve’s capital city.
This is where the Dutchman fell away from his adulthood. Like any kid, he submerged himself in his long lost inner boyhood fantasies of, – flying a kite in the beach.
The fantastic pristine beach of Praia du Quarteira decked with native exotic huts.
Dutchman’s kite, which he specifically packed for our Portugal trip. Yeah, you’ve got to let them loosen up at times!
Can’t stand the heat, so I sought shelter in one of the cafés and ordered an Iced Tea.
The Praia du Quarteira beach boulevard filled with shops and cafes.
PRAIA DO VAO in ARMACAO DA PERA
Located about 20KM-30KM westward of Albufeira. Another popular beach destination in Algarve and during the high summer season from June to August, the area overflows with tourists, but outside the top of the season it offers a wonderful peaceful holiday location.
The beach, Praia do Vao in Pera. This was taken on the road from the cafe where we took our very late brunch (almost 3PM!).
Me with the picturesque sea view of the Praia do Vau. I think the color of my attire matches the sea!
