This is Oxford Street in London

I have been here on Oxford Street before, however I cannot remember when that was and I have no recollection of what I did here as well. Perhaps shopping that is? I am quite glad that I have this blog now to document my travels.

For those who do not know, Oxford Street is THE main shopping street of London.

We all like to shop sometimes right? I do. But only when I need to buy something that I really need. Other than that I do not have the patience to shop. I like to go on a 1-day shopping activity for new clothes and stuff and that’s it. The next shopping spree would be after 9+- months.

So I tend to encounter shopping more when I am travelling because these are the times when I get confronted with shops. But I am not here on Oxford Street to shop though. I am here to eat some lobster which I have been craving for days already and which will be my next blog post as well. Because the lobster place is open at 12 noon and I arrived rather early, I decided to do some strolling down Oxford Street AKA ‘window shopping’.

One thing I can say is this—It is such a liberation not to be materialistic. I look at the beautiful items on display and I do not have the desire to covet them. Liberation tastes much sweeter when money is not an issue. I am quite happy to be content of what I have. No pressure to have this and buy that. Oh, except for travelling though but we all know that, don’t we? I prefer to spend the money that I am willing to spend on experiences.

Anyway, for the shopaholics, this is your street. There is a good mix here of international, mainstream and high-end brands. If you prefer an exclusive street, there is Bond Street on one of the corner streets with upscale fashion houses. Go here for your shopping planning tool: Oxford Street

It really is nice to see something unique to a city, such as the red London buses and the black cabs.

It is 11 something in the morning and Oxford Street is already very busy.

It rained a bit, albeit quickly though.

The Selfridges department store. No thank you.

I ducked into this pub restaurant, Spread Eagle for temporary refuge and ordered coffee whilst waiting for the rain outside to stop.

The pub restaurant has very interesting red ceiling which looked like latex material.

I would rather eat fruits than juice them. As I type this now I have a pineapple, melon, strawberries, grapes, lemons, bananas and peaches in my kitchen =)
