Quebec, Canada: Where are the Front Car License Plates?

This is one of the things my niece AnK and I noticed whilst walking around in Montreal. What happened to the front license registration plates of most cars in Montreal? Where are they? Why do most cars only have a rear license plate? Thus, rear is good enough?

So we took some pictures…

Those two cars do not have any front plates.

This RV/camper as well has no front license plate.

These cars too parked near my bed & breakfast in Montreal have no front car plates.

I checked my rental car and there is a front license plate, but it states Ontario. I rented the car in Montreal but they gave me an Ontario registered car. It looks like only Quebec registered cars do not have a front license plate.

I scoured my Canada trip pictures and found a picture of the front of my rental car and indeed there is a license plate! My friend Pat took this picture of me going to my car.

But the big trucks are an exemption however. I love these all-American trucks. They look so vintage. In Europe, you do not see them on the highways, you see them in motor and truck shows exhibited.

This is  Quebec registered truck with a front license plate.

And well, this vintage car ready to make a new couple happy has a frontal car license registration plate as well.

Hmm, looks more like an English car to me. Hint: the steering wheel.

Let us just say that it is a Quebecois thing? Oh, I read that the province of Saskatchewan does not require front car license plates as well. Good to know!
