In August of this year I went on a holiday with my parents to Malaysia with a side trip to Singapore. Our road trip itinerary was this:
Singapore –> Malacca, Malaysia –> Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia –> Batu Caves, Malaysia –> Cameron Highlands, Malaysia –> Malacca, Malaysia –> Singapore
In Malacca we rented a car for the rest of the road trip. I will talk about our driving experiences in Malaysia another time but we managed to arrive late in the afternoon in the Cameron Highlands, just in time for us to check-in to our English inspired cottage hotel, have tea/coffee and scones and rest a bit, and then take a little ride in the area even visiting a strawberry farm and a tea plantation before it got dark.

We loved our stay at the Cameron Highlands and one of the highlights (we have so many highlights for this part of the trip!) is our visit to the Brinchang Night Market. My mom and I went totally manic here, haha!
Brinchang Night Market
Location is along the main street beside the Star Regency Hotel (cannot be missed as this is a tall stand-alone building). Parking was a challenge though but with patience and persistence, we managed to find one nearby.
The Brinchang Night Market is called ‘Pasar Malam’ in the local lingo. It is being held regularly on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as during Malaysian school holidays (which you will have to check with the locals for their exact dates). The vendors start setting up as early as 17:00 already.
Like any market, you can see many stalls here selling clothes, bags, souvenirs, etcetera but the specialty of the Brinchang Night Market is of course its local produce and culinary delights. My mom and I focused on these, we were so hyped up with all the local food around us that we spent more than an hour wandering around the market.
Come, join us and shop with us =)
And this is our Best Buy: ‘Guava Apple’ and ‘Guava Strawberry’!!!
These are really, really good, we bought a few packs. It really tastes like guava apple and guava strawberry. Crunchy, sweet, tangy… we really loved it =) Make sure to buy them when you are in town. The guava strawberry is more expensive though than the guava apple.
If you are in town, do not miss this night market!
