Like any trip I go to, I am always looking for the best sweeping panoramic views. It could be a viewing point, a restaurant, a bar, a hotel, a mountain and it could even be a museum. In Salzburg I will share with you my review and where you will find one of the most inviting and cosy spots to have beautiful panoramic views of the city, such as the pictures below…
Rooftop Views from Monchsberg 32 (M32)
Website: M32 Restaurant, Café & Bar
The restaurant, café & bar sits on top of a hill—the Monchsberg, and a museum—MdM Monchsberg or Museum der Moderne. The restaurant specialises in Austrian cuisine as well as Mediterranean, and is highly recommended by Gault Millau. Most importantly, it has an outdoor terrace with probably the best view of Salzburg.
You’ll have to pay for the lift to access and go up the restaurant and museum though.
I initially sat inside the restaurant but then the showers stopped so I transferred outside. It wasn’t a cold afternoon but they have plaids ready on the terrace which are always welcome. I just have to sit near the views you know. Because they are spectacular. Just look at the pictures below. What more if the weather was great?
Apple Strudel (Apfelstrudel)
Trivia: Did you know that apple strudel originated in Austria, particularly in Vienna?
The apfelstrudel pastry at M32 was very delectable and they serve it with warm vanilla sauce. Just perfect. 4.5 stars out of 5.
Several years ago (2009) I had (perhaps one of) the best apfelstrudel I have ever eaten, in Gerlos (Tirol Alps), Austria. We were there during a skiing holiday. See pictures and read here: Yummiest Apfelstrudel in the Alps!
Also, a month before this trip, I had this pastry in Heidelberg, Germany. See pictures and read here: Apfelstrudel for lunch at Cafe Knoesel
Highly, highly, highly recommended for you to come here if you are like me who is a sucker for panorama views. Here’s a few more below to finish this entry.
