Alte Mountain Village in Algarve, Portual

Alte is peacefully nested in the hills of Algarve.

It goes back to the Roman occupation and some people consider the town as the most typical representation of the Algarvian Village.

What I find interesting in these serene yet charming villages are the old Portuguese women. They sit immobile behind their tiny windows, perhaps the whole day(?),whilst staring down to the streets observing everyone passing by and the activity around it. Kind of like that eerie feeling that someone is or was watching you all the time.

Ooh, my hair stands now on its ends, haha.

These are the typical whitewashed Portuguese residential houses nested in the mountains. Look at that winding and steep cobbled road! Still, the local women here wear heels, haha, like me.

A shot of the church’s bell tower from the main road.

The local café in the main road where we grabbed a cup of coffee for a cheap € 1,00 each! The shop also sells souvenir products, mostly ceramic.

A ceramic/pottery shop, which is an important local tradition of art and trade.
