Ottawa, Canada: ByWard Market’s Indoor Marketplace

The ByWard Market area is one of my favourites in Ottawa, Canada. It is a dynamic and refreshing place to walk around. The place makes me smile, it makes me happy. But I guess I am easy to please when it comes to markets.

Every single day you will find an outdoor market here, on the right side of the main ByWard Market building. See my separate post and colourful pictures here: Amazing Colours at the Outdoor Market in ByWard Market

Here at the indoor marketplace of the ByWard Market I managed to have a light lunch of  Asian Hot & Sour Soup + Spring Roll. It was a rainy day and my stomach was craving for something warm and hearty. I spied this Taiwanese restaurant (Wang’s Noodle House) offering soup. The soup is perfect for such rainy day I thought. Plus I haven’t had the Hot & Sour Soup for a long time. I remember this soup during my childhood days. Our weekend family trips to the local Chinese restaurant was one of the things I always look forward to.

The ByWard Market area is huge and this indoor marketplace is just one of the buildings here, however this is the main and original ByWard Market building where food retail shops are housed.

This place should not be missed when visiting Ottawa.

Just around the corner you will see the Beaver Tails shop. I love this greasy flat Canadian pastry which is a must try for first timers in the country.

It was end September when I was here so the shops are already getting into the Halloween mood.

Cheap and quick food options which is always good after some shopping.

Indoor marketplace of ByWard Market. It is made of bricks.

A very interesting piece hanging from the ceiling. I am not sure if this is art?

No pizza for me. I am having the soup at Wang’s Noodle House.
