Burj Khalifa and Getting Wet from the Dubai Dancing Fountain

So this is the tallest building in the world: The Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa
Website: Burj Khalifa

It is the tallest for now until China builds a much taller one.

Because I was pressed with time I did not go up the Burj Khalifa. I read that they have an afternoon tea program at the AT.MOSPHERE Lounge Restaurant (yep, it is really spelled like that, with a period in between) at the top of Burj Khalifa. At least I know where to go to on my next Dubai visit or layover.

Having said that I just gawked from the ground at the tallest building in the world. She is a very pretty sight I reckon. Elegant, beautiful. shiny and sleek. The building’s glass exterior sparkles amidst the summer fog of humid Dubai.

The building is just beside the Dubai Mall, and the fountains are in front, so its good to combine them all during the visit.

Posing with the Burj Khalifa at my back (the man behind me does not want to leave! ugh).

Dubai Fountain Lake

Tha Dubai Fountain is located on the Burj Khalifa Lake in front of the Burj Khalifa building and beside the Dubai Mall. It is the world’s largest choreographed fountain system set on a 30-acre man-made lake and was designed by the same company who made the Bellagio Hotel lake fountain in Las Vegas, USA. Dutchman and I have seen this fountain in Las Vegas some 4 years ago. Read here: Bellagio Musical Fountain in las Vegas.

The last fountain show I saw was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the KLCC Lake Symphony Fountains on the KLCC Lake at the back of the Petronas Tower last year.

The choreographed fountains program starts only after the breaking of the Ramadan fast, so we decided to come back later to watch it after having dinner. But before leaving, Miss Luster and I took a few obligatory souvenir pictures.

The lake fountain is right in front of the Burj Khalifa.

Finally after dinner we came back and positioned ourselves strategically along the ridge of the lake on the Dubai Mall side. Little did we know that the fountains will shift gears and will be whisking her showers at our side of the lake. Suffice to say, we ended up getting very wet that night, haha.

Here is a video I made and had to stop at some point because the fountain was attacking me and my camera!

Halfway through the filming, the camera lens became wet and everything is blurry… had to stop.

For the time of the performances of the choreographed fountains, please check here: Dubai Fountain. Of course during the Ramadan month, performances are only in the evening.

Everyone waiting for the show.

Nice and it is FREE, so do not miss this if its your first time in Dubai.
