The underpassage is located under the Oude Vismijn – Brasserie Bord’eau, a lovely modern restaurant on the Graslei (across Het Grote Vleeshuis) but we were too late for lunch as they were only accepting orders up to 14:30?
The restaurants in Ghent are worse than in Paris. A waiter informed us that this is a standard practice in Belgium. They open lunch at 11:30/12:00 and close at 14:30, then they open it later at 18:30 for dinner. In between would just be drinks served, or easily prepared food in the small menu. However the Oude Vismijn – Brasserie Bord’eau does not have any small menu available for late lunch diners.
Anyway, because of the detour Blondine and I found this catchy underpassage art. In fact we were not the only ones drawn to the beautiful art, there were quite a number of people looking for the right angle, including photographers with serious cameras.
