For starters, Zagreb City has a small core centre that is divided into two areas: Upper Town (Gornji Grad) and Lower Town (Donji Grad). The Upper Town is the old centre, partly hilly and is mostly pedestrianized.
There is a funicular on Ilica, the main shopping street dividing Gornji Grad and Donji Grad but you can also walk up to Upper Town. In fact there are many ways going up to the top. The best viewing platform is right on top of the funicular where the LotrÅ¡Äak Tower is located and the street that leads to Strossmayer Promenade (Strossmayerovo Å¡etaliÅ¡te) at the back of St. Catherine’s Church.
Of course the views are probably much better at the top of the LotrÅ¡Äak Tower but I was not feeling adventurous and industrious enough to climb the steps. Sometimes you have those sluggish travel days. Maybe because it was drizzling. Where is the sun the weather forecast has promised? Hmp. I felt cheated.
Here are the rest of the rooftop views of Zagreb.
