For the record this is my THIRD time to see the Amsterdam Gay Pride Canal Parade. It is however Blondine’s and Bru’s FIRST time. And oh, we are not lesbians, we came to this event to enjoy and watch the celebrations. Of course, we support gay rights.
We started the Saturday afternoon with a little bit of shopping at PC Hooftstraat. I have been eyeing this Louis Vuitton bag for some time and today I succumbed to finally buying it. Afterwards Blondine and I had lunch at Caffe PC and Bru came later.
Into the afternoon it started raining hard and we were quite worried of not being able to see the Gay Pride party. Eventually the rain stopped and off we went to Prinsengracht where the canal parade passes by. One thing we could unanimously say is that the Amsterdam Gay Pride Canal Parade event is a smaller version of Queen’s Day without the free market. And orange isn’t the colour of the day but pink.
We walked the length of Prinsengracht, while watching the parade, taking pictures and enjoying the party atmosphere. A friend of Blondine has an apartment on Prinsengracht who were gracious enough to invite us to watch the canal parade from their window. However it is located near Westerkerk which is at the other side of Amsterdam. When we finally arrived at the apartment (with a gorgeous view to Prinsengracht), the parade has finished, haha great timing! Luckily our walking efforts were awarded with some chilled rose.
To finish the day we went to Leidseplein to have tea and coffee. No more alcohol for me as I will be driving back home.

It was a nice day. We got lucky with the weather. Every time it rained we were sitting somewhere inside. First, at the restaurant in PC Hooftstraat and second, at the café in Leidseplein.
I am pretty sure, the Amsterdam Gay Pride is the best Gay Pride event in the world.
