Skiing Balme / Les Autannes – Vallorcine / Le Tour of Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley

Hi Blog, I am sorry, I have neglected you big time. I didn’t realise I missed you? I do. I really do.

So I am trying to make amends by posting our skiing trip to Chamonix last January. I hope this is the start of my true repentance with posts lined up in the coming weeks. Why is it too difficult to promise these days? Life has changed so much…. but I will try.

Due to Covid, we haven’t skied for 2 years. So this trip was quite exciting.

La Palma: The Izcagua Viewing Point in Puntagorda and Dinner at Muralla

Destination: La Palma Island, The Canary Islands,
Spain Travel Period: August 2020

In the beginning of the holiday, Dutchman and I were a bit disappointed in ourselves. We were used to the more intimate Greek Islands with organized pocket-size beach bays with parasols and beach beds and beach bars and a spruced up restaurant and shopping scene. La Palma’s version of this is not as how we were used to.

For the first few days we were missing the Greek Islands, but I was resolved to make this summer holiday a success, so I went to work searching for places to explore and enjoy. I read about a restaurant with a lovely view, so we decided to check it out first before reserving a table, as well as drive further up north where we came across this amazing viewing platform, Izcagua.

La Palma First Impressions of Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte

Destination: La Palma Island, The Canary Islands,
Spain Travel Period: August 2020

Our summer holiday last year was without a doubt a far cry from the summer holidays we’ve had in the past years. Like every one of us, we have fallen into the Covid-19 predicament. We’ve wanted to go to the Greek Islands but Dutchman and I were not keen on taking the Covid test so we chose to go to Spain instead.

Los Llanos de Aridane in La Palma, is the second largest city La Palma.

Malta Road Trip: Experiencing Mdina

Destination: Mdina, Northern Region, Malts
Travel Period: November 2018

This is Delphi and moi in Mdina, the ancient capital of Malta. We spent an afternoon checking out this place. We had lunch with a view and during our discovery walk, we came upon a church where we witnessed a local wedding.

Malta Road Trip: Dingli Cliffs, Rabat

Destination: Dingli | Rabat, Northern Region, Malta
Travel Period: November 2018
We had a 5-day holiday in Malta and during our stay, we rented a car as it was easier for us to travel from the airport to the center in our own private vehicle. We also planned a 2-day road trip around the country. Given that Malta is small, we managed to see many places in just one day which is really good.

The Dingli Cliffs.

Malta: Discovering “The Three Cities”

Travel Period: November 2018
Destination: The Three Cities, Valletta, Malta
The Three Cities of Malta gave me a melancholic short trip back to the Phoenician times. Apart from the impressive architecture, it was a gloomy and wet day, something better spent indoors actually but when you are travelling for pleasure, you have no time to be cooped up inside your hotel.
We have no choice but to take it as it is and make the most of it. That also explains the somewhat downcast feel of the pictures here.

Mini Break in Hilly Zuid Limburg, Netherlands

I am not sure what to make out of this extended Covid-19 status quo. There are times when I am feeling very serene and thankful. Other times, totally stressed out. It is mostly about work stuff really, and all this uncertainty eating up the business and economy.

A mini-break was all that we needed to refresh our spirits but with the Covid-19 backlash, we didn’t have choices of holiday destinations to pick on. We initially wanted to go to the Eifel (National Park) or the Ahr Valley (Red Wine Trail) in Germany, but unfortunately, Germany is requiring a negative Covid-19 test valid for 48 hours upon entry, that is if checked. Too much hassle, we can’t be bothered.
