Eating out in Antwerp at the Oude Koornmarkt

It was one of those gorgeous weather weekends when we went to Antwerp, the capital of the Flanders region in Belgium. I wanted mussels in white wine for dinner but I changed my mind because I cannot finish the whole pan and Dutchman who normally finishes what’s left on my plate don’t eat fish, as well as the restaurant we chose didn’t have mussels on the menu. OK, that was a long winded excuse, haha.

We went to the ‘Oude Koornmarkt’, a very popular and busy area of Antwerp. This street is full of cafe and restaurant terraces.
I love Belgian beers and I prefer them dark like the trappist beers. My aperitif at a different cafe.

Unlike in the Netherlands, the restaurants in Belgium usually give you free bread. When you go south of Europe, they ask for a cover charge for the table that includes the bread.

Not feeling very well actually, having a searing headache here…

Nothing fancy dinner along the Oude Koornmarkt. I had grilled gambas. When it’s beautiful weather everyone eats outside.

While Dutchman had gyros.

Our view from our table, the Italian restaurant.
