Cebuano (Filipino) Breakfasts in Bantayan Island

When I am in the Philippines I strive to avoid eating anything not Filipino or Asian related. It makes no sense feasting on other culinary dishes while on holiday in Asia when I can get them here in the Netherlands or when I travel abroad, while Filipino food, or let me rephrase that, Cebuano food, I can’t.

Dangsilog: Fried dried danggit (rabbit fish), eggs and garlic rice breakfast at Mabuhay Balikbayan Restaurant. The dried fish is dipped in vinegar.

Breakfasts though is something I have to learn to face up to because I don’t eat rice and warm food in the morning anymore but hey, for a week or two or three of pure Filipino style brunch indulgence while on holiday, why not? So these are the Filipino breakfasts I’ve had in Bantayan Island in Cebu, an island in an island in the Philippines =).

I’ve actually lost all my Cebu holiday fotos last year but was very happy I managed to retrieve my Bantayan Island fotos so these are the only surviving breakfast fotos I have.

Biggest cup of tea I have ever had at Mabuhay Balikbayan Restaurant, seriously its a supersize mug. Longsilog: Longganisa (Filipino sausage), eggs and plain rice breakfast at Santa Fe Ogtong Cave Beach Resort.

Chosilog: Chorizo de Cebu, eggs and garlic rice breakfast with mango and tomatoes at Blue Ice Bar & Restaurant, the only restaurant in the island that has a real coffee machine, they even have espresso and speculaas biscuit as well!

More of Bantayan Island soon but let me finish my Andalusia, Spain holiday stories first.
