Over the 2 weeks we were in Cebu, Philippines, we managed to visit several many markets. Public markets here, wet markets there, open-air markets everywhere. I enjoyed it a lot; it is like re-experiencing things I did in the past, just that now I am more mindful and appreciative of everything around me.
The best place to buy fresh tropical fruits in Cebu City is in Ramos Market.
My mom told me that the fruit stands have since moved here. They used to be in front of Chong Hua Hospital and I quite remember as a little kid that I prefer to be hospitalized in Chong Hua Hospital than in Cebu Doctors Hospital because of two things (it is quite normal in the Philippines to rush a kid with high fever to the hospital).
Firstly, I thought the Cebu Doctors lobby and hallways were too dark and visions of the hospital from hell movie scenes haunt me.
Secondly, I adored the fruit stands outside Chong Hua. I love the smell of the fruits and I know when relatives visit they always bring a fruit or two.
Well I hope that helped your Cebuano as well!
