Christmas Markets in Munster and a Krakauer Sausage | Germany

It’s 24 December and based from the pending entries that I have this is the most apt entry to post at this moment.

Munster Christmas Markets

Every year I go to Germany to indulge in their Deutsch Christmas Market spirit. We don’t have a similar thing here in the Netherlands, well actually we do in the south but it doesn’t come close to the experience I always get whenever I visit Germany during the Christmas season. The fact remains that Christmas is big in Germany than in the Netherlands. Our big event here is Sinterklaas celebrated on the first week of December. So in the Netherlands its like having Christmas early in December hehe.

Anyway, we enjoyed our time in Munster. There were five Christmas Markets in the city and I was not really sure if we visited all of them. It was so busy, there were so many people, we had to keep an eye with each other in order not to get lost. In fact I lost tract counting the markets we went to. The one by the inner courtyard of the city hall I believe was teeming with people. It was gezellig!

And because I didn’t eat lunch at Café Kleimann where everyone had a warm ‘apfelstrudel’ with vanilla sauce, I treated myself at the markets to a ‘krakauer’ that I have been lusting since we arrived town. The krakauer sausage is actually Polish coming from the city called Krakov (Krakow) that I have visited the other year. This sausage however has infiltrated Germany and has successfully developed its own reputation that it is now being served alongside Bratwurst.
