Our Paris home for the long weekend: Mercure Hotel Voltaire

I chose a hotel in the Bastille-Le Marais area because we plan to spend our last day in chic Le Marais. We chose the 4-star chain hotel Mercure—the Mercure Hotel Voltaire Quartier Bastille that has a boutique-ish design thing going on.

Here are the pictures of the hotel:

The cute minimalist lobby.

Other than what I have already mentioned above and this fitting to the budget, there were a few things that made us choose this hotel.

Firstly, they have parking available. Not for free though but this saves us the hassles. I have learned from the hard lesson last year with Blondine where we searched high and low for nearby parking, and then walking in high heels with our luggage in tow until we gave up because we couldn’t seem to find the hotel, moi being iPhone GPS challenged and such. Terrible! Then we tried hailing a cab which took us forever because Parisian taxi drivers are as atrocious as Manila taxi drivers. So annoying!

Secondly, they have free wifi. No explanation needed. Oh, a fast connection as well.

Thirdly, included in the package is free buffet breakfast and a free boat ticket (if you book directly). I can forego the breakfast thing because I am not a breakfast person, although I must admit this is a plus point, as well as Bru needed her big breakfast anyway. But I have never cruised the River Seine, so this somehow baited me a bit.

Fourthly, the reviews of this hotel were quite high. Especially mentioning that the hotel rooms are new, clean, spacious and with modern design.

So there you go!

Unfortunately the beautiful rose was not meant for Bru and I.

Doggie went crazy with the leaked water, haha. There are SO MANY dogs-on-a-leash in Paris.
