One of the things I did right while visiting Seoul, South Korea was to stay in a Hanok House, a traditional Korean house that brings you back in time to the powerful Joseon Dynasty. This way you get to experience Korean culture, hospitality and the traditional way of living first hand. In the Hanok there are no chairs so we have to sit on the floor with a futon, cross-legged (I was reminded of my Physical Education classes in grade and high school, haha) and eat our breakfasts on a low small table.
Now our host, the gracious Mi of Charm Hanok House, was always kind and accommodating. She prepared our breakfasts with detail and care, even going as far as making different themed breakfast sets each morning.
For our ‘Day 1 breakfast’, which was our first Korean breakfast, sort of a ‘Welcome to Korea Breakfast’ as you may, can be found here: Our first Korean Breakfast and a glimpse to our Hanok
And here’s the rest of our breakfasts at the Charm Hanok House:
Day 2 breakfast: Another ‘Korean breakfast’
So we had some dumpling soup or ‘manduguk’ , napa cabbage kimchi pancake or ‘baechu kimchijeon’ (yummy), galbi beef, white radish kimichi or ‘kkakdugi’ and apples. This is a very fullfilling Korean breakfast, our second in this trip.
For warm drinks, we settled for tea every day. For me, green tea rice, my favourite.
Because this is our second day that we had Korean breakfast, Dutchman was wondering if we are going to be eating Korean breakfasts for the next 2 days as well. As you can see, the Dutchman is obviously Dutch and he needs his brown bread so badly. As for me, I can eat anything!

Day 3 breakfast: French influenced breakfast
Oh wait, what are those fluffy yellow squares? Are they bread???
Yes, those are French toasts! Dutchman was quite happy that there was finally some kind of bread, haha. I gave him half of my French toast (and ham) in lieu of his spinach and carrots. I am a vegie monster.
So Mi has done it again! Thank you! Preparing a lovely breakfast but with a twist of variety this time. French style with vegetables and few pieces of ham and some milk yoghurt with bananas, grated walnuts and prunes for dessert.

Day 4 breakfast: ‘Oh, we have some real bread this time’ breakfast!
Well what else? Dutchman was extremely happy to see the pieces of soft brown bread. I can hear him heaving a huge sigh of relief =)
We had some meat beef balls, grilled pumpkin (I love!), brie cheese and jam for the bread, and some apples and peaches for dessert.
Now if you were me you will exchange the meat balls with the pumpkins. It is always a win-win for Dutchman and I, although he likes vegetables as well, he often times trade his vegetables for meat with me. In addition, he is also my trusted waste bin, because he eats most of my leftovers =)
To Mi, the breakfasts were lovely. We enjoyed it very much and we looked forward to it every morning. Kansamnida!
More on our Seoul trip next.
