When in Brugge there’s some Kwak and Kriek beers

Whenever I am in Belgium, I never fail to honour this neighbouring country by drinking one of their hundreds of divine beers. This time I am having ‘Kwak’ beer while I suggested to Bru that she take ‘Kriek’ because she isn’t really much of a beer drinker.

Our view, the Provincial Court of Brugge (Bruges).

Beer drinking was of course the first thing we did in Brugge (Bruges) when we arrived. We found this brasserie and tea room called Craenenburg at the Grote Markt (main market square) and we had one of the best seats in the house with a gorgeous view to the square. Perfect.

Kriek, a fruity cherry beer is always the best option for beer rookies. I liken it to an entry-level beer for female non-beer drinkers who wants to taste the joys and flavours of Belgian beers. Bru loved it =)

Kwak on the other hand is one of the very distinctive specialty Belgian beers and I chose this because I am enamoured of its flask-style glass and just the whole beer presentation with the wooden handle. Totally cool and different. And the beer tastes equally good as it looks.

It was soooo cold and windy in Brugge, we stayed mostly indoors hopping from one café, restaurant and shop to another. I (had) told myself to not travel again when it’s bloody cold winter. BBBRRRRRR… helaas, I never seem learn.

Kriek and Kwak Belgian beers. Proost! Cheers! Sante! Cin cin!
