Malaysian Street Food Finds: Fruits Rojak and Putu Bambu

I love food, there is no mistake about that, but I love a crunchy fruit and vegetable snack anytime of the day. I am not really a vegetarian or a health nut, I just love fruits and vegetables. When we went to KL’s Central Market, I was ecstatic when I saw this colourful spread.

Pickled Fruits Rojak

I am in heaven! And I am buying!!!

I like this idea of picking and mixing. So I first choose the fruits: Green Mango, Papaya and Guava.

Then I choose the rojak sauce and the rest of the toppings.

What is a Rojak? It is basically a mixture of sauces, sweets, spices and nuts. They vary greatly in this region (Malaysia-Indonesia-Singapore) and what you intend to use it for or mix it with, i.e. fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, etcetera.

And VOILA!!! It is time to eat =)

And my mother who is not into fruits and vegies (like most Filipinos, except my father though, see I got it from my dad) but is into rice desserts found this:

Putu Bambu

The whole set up was so fascinating and pretty. I did try this and it is quite good, unfortunately, I am not into rice desserts. I find them too heavy and they tend to stretch in your stomach which I could not really take. But they tasted really good. My mom and dad loves it.

Ingredients of Putu Bambu (Rice dessert with coconut shavings): Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Palm Sugar, Coconut, Pandan Flavour
