Currywurst (Curry Sausage) at the Cologne Train Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof), Germany

I am in Cologne, Germany every week for work which usually means long days for me as I do not stay there overnight. I am old, in my mid-40’s so long days for me does take a toll on my body. And I also just had recovered from Pneumonia. But work is very important and I am willing to make sacrifices as I want to retire early and enjoy life fulltime soon =).

At the Cologne train station platform they are selling the currywurst as well.

Sometimes I take the train from Utrecht Centraal Station (NL) to Köln Hauptbahnhof (DE) which is a much relaxed way of travelling than driving/travelling with the car. Plus, on the train you can work. The only downside is internet, as it is not free with the German trains (the ICE in this case), whereas with the Dutch trains (the NS) it is. One day internet will be available everywhere for free just like in Seoul, South Korea.

Here is the route with the ICE train:

You can move the map by holding it with your mouse, as well as zoom it in and out by clicking on the + and – signs on the lower right hand side of the map.

One of those train days I decided to take the very popular German fastfood snack, the ‘Currywurst’ or the Curry Sausage. I always eat this before when visiting Germany for its Christmas Markets. It’s been a long time since I had one, so I thought it would not hurt to have a little portion before I take my train ride back home.

As you might be aware of, Germany is a meat country. Well, a pork country actually. Not a good place for vegetarians and non-pork eating folks =)

Hmm, since I will be in Germany a lot, perhaps I need to start learning Deutsch?

Just 2.99 Euros for the currywurst and bread. Not bad.

That is curry powder sprinkled on top of the sausage laden with ketchup.

I like Ritter Sport chocolate. My favourite is the white milk chocolate one with the corn flakes (knusperflakes). Difficult to find in the Netherlands but not in Germany.
