What can I say? I literally food orgasmed at the Borough Market!!!
I will post the rest of my Borough Market pictures another time and for now I just want to share my delicious walking lunch. Honestly, it took me a while to decide what to eat. I just kept going around in circles passing the Indian, Thai and Balkan stalls, perhaps 5 times! Goodness heavens, the vendors must have noticed me already, haha. I was torn between eating chicken curry + rice, pad thai noodles and borek phyllo-based pastry with filling.
In the end, the Egyptian vegetarian mix of beans, lentils, vermicelli, chickpeas, pasta, fried onions and hot tomato sauce won me over. This was my first time to try Koshari and I really enjoyed it very much. I would have loved another serving but I am reserving some space in my tummy for other yummylicious stuff.
Next stop are some raw oysters to guzzle down with a squeeze of fresh lemon. I am crazy about oysters. Anything seafood really.
I spotted a few people walking around with a glass of sparkling wine in their hands so I asked them where they bought it. ‘Right behind you!’ said the woman. I quite felt dumb after that, haha. A quick sip of the bubbling Prosecco and everything is well again.
In between, I managed to do numerous free food tastings as well as I walk around my way in the market. Salamis, cheeses and these fruits.
The last on my walking lunch is some sundried tomato and olive breadstick, rather baguette style. They just looked so lovely piled up on top of each other and I love the crunchy golden melted cheese clinging on to the bread.
In the weekends, I melt Gouda cheese on a pan and eat it crunchy for breakfast. So it’s something familiar beckoning me and I couldn’t resist. In the end I was only able to finish half and ate the rest the next day for breakfast.
I would go back to the Borough Market for another walking lunch in a snap, and will do this when I return to London.
Saw this on the walls of one of the passageways at the Borough Market. It is interesting to see what people wish the most: Love and Travel.
