I stumbled upon Walcot Street on my first day in Bath. I was just walking around aimlessly without a map with me. I was just following my intuition, where my footsteps will lead me.
Something tells me that this street is special. There’s an arty flair and spontaneous feel lingering in the area. Independent craft and curio shops line up the street. Vintage clothing yards, interior and antique furniture shop galleries bid for a bargain. Surely, this street could easily be a treasure trove for the home enthusiasts and creative types.
Whilst walking on the street, my vision zeroed in to a massive black and white painting on the walls of Walcot Street. The more you look at the painting, the more you get sucked into it. Like a mysterious beautiful lady enticing a handsome and eager stranger. I was having some sort of tunnel vision 3D effect.
Another passer-by on a bike stopped beside me and took a picture of the painting with his mobile phone. He smiled and we had a little conversation going about the art. He thought it was special. I couldn’t agree more. The painting suggests venturing into the unknown and evoked feelings of fear and excitement, which is what I always feel everytime I travel.
There is a vintage flea market held on Walcot Street and London Street every Saturday. For the artisan lover, this is your place.
