Cologne, Germany is a city that I visit because of work. I have officially considered it as one of my base cities this year due to the frequency of my visits. So there will be more Cologne stories and pictures in the near future in this blog.
I normally go to Cologne with the ICE train but there are ocassions that I go with the car. I prefer the train though because it is a relaxed way of travelling, plus I can work peacefully in the cabin. Recently though, because it is the summer season, lots of families take the train, along with their children screaming, crying, talking loudly and playing computer games with loud music on. *sigh*
OK, moms out there do not get mad. I am just spoiled for not having children of my own =)
Anyway, these pictures of the gothic Cologne Cathedral were taken last year sometime in October.
I had about an hour to bum around before my train schedule so I went inside the cathedral for a peek. I have been in here before, many years ago actually (well, a decade ago to be exact!) together with my cousin who was travelling around Europe that time. We met up in the city right in front of the church and stayed in a hotel somewhere in the centrum before proceeding to the Netherlands.
Of course we checked out the church. She said she needs to do it for her mom (my aunt) and tell her that she has seen the Shrine of the Three Kings. Yes, the gilded Shrine of the Three Kings aka the Three Magis or the Three Wise Men is indeed inside the Cologne Cathedral, which makes Cologne part of the pilgrim route for devout Christians (Catholics mainly). I did not manage to check it out this time though.
I took however pictures outside the cathedral and a few inside as well.
