Gothic Houses on the Old Fish Market of Cologne, Germany

A few of the Gothic houses that survived after the Second World War.

Germany was bombed flat by the allies during the Second World War and many old historical buildings in its major cities were destroyed. Cologne is one of them. Cologne is also not the prettiest city of Germany but there are some pockets in the old city centre that will make you smile and linger for a while, such as the Old Fish Market near the Romanesque St. Martin Church on the Rhine River boulevard. Here you can find these old Gothic houses that survived the war.

Cologne is the 4th largest city of Germany. They call Cologne the Media City because most of the media companies are based here.

I took these pictures on a very rainy Monday a few weeks ago after work .

These are the Gothic houses that managed to survive the bombing. The rest of the houses along the boulevard were relatively new and were patterned to look like these to create uniformity.

The Hohenzollern Bridge which is exclusively used for train and pedestrian purposes only.
