This market is where you need to go to buy all those maple food stuff and Quebecois souvenirs. I didn’t know you can do a lot of things from a maple tree? What a revelation this holiday was =)
The prices here at the farmer’s market are cheaper of course than the souvenir shops you see in Old Quebec. The maple lollipops were going half the price compared to the ones in the Duty Free shop of Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. Yes, I do remember the prices =)
The produce, the food and all the gourmet concoctions on offer in the market totally reflect the French style farmer’s market. They sell cider, foie gras, terrines, macarons, cheeses, dried saucissons, crème brulee and more.
The market is located in the port area just across the Lower Town. You can easily walk here from Place Royale or from the Frontenac Chateau for example. Below is the map showing the walk from the chateau to the market:
I came here though with the car and for some reason I didn’t have to pay the parking. Maybe because I didn’t stay that long or it was almost the end of the day.
