We cannot just leave Khaosan Road without having some grub. The senior citizen parents are already complaining that they are hungry as it is past their lunch time.
I remember a restaurant pub and bar somewhere down the street that Dutchman and I used to frequent, so I told the parents to continue walking. You see, my mom walks with a cane (that converts into a little chair, very handy!), so her pace is, shall I say, similar to a turtle. I am far from exaggerating. My dad also has recently recovered from an infected foot. This means that I have to always mind my walking speed. This is not just my holiday, it is theirs as well. Oh I forgot, I am their nanny =)
The place is called Center Khao Sarn. It has the best seats on Khaosan Road to watch the comings and goings of both tourists and locals. It is like sitting on the ringside of a live theater. The parents however found the place a bit shabby but unfortunately they have no choice, hehe. As a matter of fact, this is already the nicest and hygienic-looking restaurant pub and bar on this street.
My mom thought she ordered some pork and egg dish with rice, but instead she received fried rice mixed with pork and egg. My dad settled for breaded pork and rice whilst I went for the Tom Yum soup. I so love this soup! And in true Asian style, we shared our food with each other. All for one, one for all.
This Tom Yum soup is one of the good ones I have ever had. I love it that it is spicy, yet not intimidating at all. I am a happy camper so far =)
Whilst enjoying our lunch, we managed as well to people watch. At least the senior citizen parents found it interesting to watch the local vendors hawking their stuff to tourists.
