Most holidaymakers know the mountain village of Poros because of its beautiful bay beach – Mikros Gialos where Dutchman, the Dutch mother and moi spent a very lazy afternoon.
We actually lost our way on the road to Mikros Gialos, and somehow detoured in Poros. We followed the narrow street all the way into the village until we reached a dirt road going further up in the mountains.
And we thought, “There are no beaches in the mountains right?â€
Well, of course not! Haha.
As we were turning the car back, a man from the village passed by and stopped. He was quite helpful and informed us that we have to go back approximately 300 metres until we reach an intersection which is the road going to Mikros Gialos. The 300 metres confused us a bit because the first intersection we came upon was the road to the inner village. I had to get out of the car and searched for someone breathing who can give us the exact information where the road to the beach is!
Nevertheless, back on the road and after driving for about – well we thought – 500 metres further, we saw the road intersection. Okay, it looks like it is 500 metres people and NOT 300 metres!
Here is the problem with the signage on the intersection though — the Mikros Gialos signage was laid on the ground against a pole and covered by tall grass. Mounted on top of it were other signages. If you do not have a keen eyesight or GPS, you will for sure end up like us, missing the exit, haha.
In fact we saw another car pulled up behind us in the village because they were also lost.
Anywho, I managed to take a few pictures of the Poros mountain village and this is the location of the village in the island:
And this is Mikros Gialos beach!
I will post more pictures and blog about our lazy afternoon experience here at this beach.
