This is the place to go for shopping, cafe terracing and people watching =)
This pedestrian street is also a great place to enjoy the street musicians. This group of young musicians was quite different though as they were a classical quartet and they looked like students. They managed to form a little curious fan group.
I do wonder how much these street musicians earn? And do they have to pay to someone to be able to play here? So many questions…
Here are a few blog entries I posted earlier about this country’s famous and always busy pedestrian street:
- Belgrade (Beograd) Evening Walk (many of the pictures were taken on Knez Mihailova)
- The Nightlife Terrace Scene in Belgrade at Knez Mihailova
I almost booked my hotel here on Knez Mihailova, at the Beograd Art Hotel, but then I learned that they do not really have a parking area since the hotel’s location is on a busy pedestrian street. When I am road tripping in a different country, I always prefer to rent a car. You have the freedom to go whenever and wherever you want, and you have privacy and comfort as well.
I just love driving in foreign places. I guess it is the adrenalin rush of the unfamiliar. Treading on unchartered territory. It is the ultimate road trip experience for me to be able to drive around privately, and not with other people in a bus or van. I do not mind the trains though. So yeah, parking spaces are important to me, and I prefer them free as well. Zepter Hotel offers them free of charge.
So instead of booking my hotel here, I had coffee instead. After my lunch with a view at Restoran Caruso, I walked here and had my afternoon coffee, and I am glad I did because the cafe and restaurant of the hotel is just so cool. The facade is all glass, and because the cafe restaurant is on the first floor, the vantage point is very ideal to watch the comings and goings at Knez Mihailova. This place comes highly recommended!
What can I say? The Knez Mihailova is the place to hang out in Belgrade. Maybe not every day and every night, but if you are new to the city, you better come here for a few nights or more.
Enjoy the photos!
